Resume

Alejandro Benítez (Mexico City) is an actor, a puppeteer and a drummer. He studied Drama & Literature at the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He has worked as an actor and a musician in more than 15 plays such as La lucha con el Ángel, Sueño de una noche de verano (A mid-summer night’s dream) The Repugnant Story of Clotario Demoniax, Troka el poderoso (Mighty Troka), and El tablero de las pasiones de juguete. As a puppeteer he has worked in theater, television (Plaza Sésamo, the latin american version of Sesame Street) and Internet Television. He has worked as a producer & announcer in Internet radio. He was a member of the theater group Bochinche from 1992 to 1999. He is part of Teatro Tinglado since 1995. He has performed in several puppet festivals and very important venues in the US, Canada and Mexico, such as the III International Festival of Puppet Theatre of The Jim Henson Foundation, New York; The Solomon R. He is currently working in the bi national project Dos Pueblos/Two Towns in collaboration with the US companies Hand2Mouth Theater and Milagro Teatro
from Portland, OR. This project has the kindly support of the MAPFund of The Rockefeller Foundation and will be premiere in September 2008.

He is also working in a new Toy Theater project, Panteón de Fiesta (Fiesta Graveyard) with his own theater company
FACTO TEATRO. This is a production of The Music Center of The Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, with the kind support of The Jim Henson Foundation and will be premiered at The International Festival of Toy Theater in June 2008.
